Marriage at St. Joseph's Chapel
The celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage is an act of worship and a visible expression of the couple's faith commitment. Marriages are normally celebrated in the home parish of either the bride or groom. For a marriage at St. Joseph's College Chapel, at least one of either the bride or groom must be a regular and practicing member of the College's worshipping community. The Director of Campus Ministry must be contacted at least twelve months in advance of the intended date of the marriage celebration.
The Campus Ministry staff has the obligation to see that any couple preparing for marriage in the Catholic Church receives appropriate pastoral care and support. Both parties must agree to active participation in the St. Joseph's College worshipping community. In addition, couples should presume that there will be several meetings with the priest as well as the formal marriage preparation requirements of the Archdiocese of Edmonton.
